Revolution is currently airing on NBC in the United States and has proved a critical and ratings success stateside. An incredible 13.3 million viewers have made the drama the most successful scripted series launch in over three years.

The drama is executive produced by J.J. Abrams and is to air in the UK on Sky 1 after the network struck a deal with Warner Brothers Distribution.

Sarah Wright, Controller of Acquisitions, Sky Entertainment, commented: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Warner Bros. on this latest project from J.J. Abrams. Our customers have always had a strong connection with J.J. Abrams event series and we’re confident that Revolution will prove to be a monster hit with them following its record breaking debut in the US.” The first episode begins with a family struggling to reunite in a post-apocalyptic American landscape: a world of empty cities, local militias and heroic freedom fighters, where every single piece of technology has mysteriously blacked out.

Jeffrey R. Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. International Television adds “Revolution is an amazing ratings success in the United States, so not surprisingly there has been enormous interest in bringing the series to UK audiences. This is a big-budget, compelling and exciting series perfectly matched for Sky1 HD and we are sure it will be a hit for them.”

Revolution will air on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in 2013.
